Smile 211 taxicabs's in Cartagena

Hi guys, need to share the most awesome thing that happened to me this morning.
After spending yesterday on the paperwork to retrieve my bike from the Cartagena customs I went to the docks at 6 am today. Took a taxicab with my sleepy head and got out at the docks. That’s when it started. The moment the cab drove off I realized I left my bag on the back seat. Containing my shipping papers, customs papers, passport, creditcard, GPS, the lot. I started chasing the cab on foot but it was already too far away. I went completely crazy you can imagine. Ooooh sh*t, YOU STUPID F**K , and started hitting my own head. I’m f’d, now I’m really f’d.
That’s when this guy Moizes, a dockworker who was helping me a little came up to me. Rob, Rob, relax. Just wait, everything is going to be fine. Yeah yeah, I thought. But this guy is starting to phone some people, getting the number from the cab companies and starts calling them. They radio’d everybody and in no time there were 211 cabs looking out for the one that dropped me off!
Still shaking I went to open the crate with the customs inspector, comes this guy Mozes up again: Rob, run, run, your cab is up in front of the gate! So I run to the gate and there is my cabdriver, with a big big smile, holding up my bag. Oh man, I nearly hugged the man to death I can tell you.
I spent the rest of the day on paperwork, 12 hours! Because of some bureaucratic nonsense mistakes. But I got the bike out in the end. What a feeling to ride my bike out of the docks and take it for a spin along the Cartagena boulevard after months of preparing and after a day like this. Priceless.
Wish all you guys the same luck I had today and when you see a Dutchman with a really big smile on an orange KTM heading south, it’s probably me.
Cheers, Rob

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
