Brazil visa on the road (US citizen)

Dear all,

a friend of mine (US citizen) is looking at travelling to Brazil soon, direct from Europe. Does anybody know of a fast/easy way of obtaining a brazilian visa for US citizens in Europe? If Europe is difficult, what would be the best place in the US to have a visa issued quickly?

Thanks for your help!

Have him go to the nearest Brazilian Embassy or consolate and apply for the visa. Should be a one or two day process.

Brazilian consulates throughout South America seem to make up their own rules, which results in vastly different experiences depending on which consulate you apply at. However, if your friend has time to spare and doesn't have to travel far this won't matter. The price will remain the same--last I heard, US$140 cash.

Brazilians, for all their libertine ways, seem unduly attached to bureaucratic procedural rules, so make sure your friend has all the appropriate slips of paper--itinerary, reservations, whatever.

Hope that helps.

Mark

Thanks guys! I think he will try the consulate in Frankfurt. If anyone has experience with this (or another Brazilian consulate in Germany), any feedback would be most welcome!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
