Brazil visa question

As a USA or Canadian citizen, can I pass into and out of Brazil on the same day and not have to have a visa? Anyone done this?

ENTRY / EXIT REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS: Brazil requires U.S. citizens to carry a valid U.S. passport and visa when traveling to Brazil for any purpose. You must obtain your Brazilian visa in advance from the Brazilian Embassy or consulate nearest to your place of residence in the United States. There are no "airport visas" and immigration authorities will refuse entry into Brazil to anyone not possessing a valid visa. The U.S. government cannot assist you if you arrive in Brazil without proper documentation.
same deal for Australians

bump!

Can someone guide me where to go to find out if I need a visa to pass from Cobija, Bolivia / Brasileia, Brazil to the Asis Brazil / Iñapai, Peru (110 km) in the same day without a Brazilian visa? Can this be considered a 'transit'?

Doesn't seem worth while...

It looks like a mountain of paperwork to get a 10 day in transit visa, which expires 1 month after it is generated and you still have to pay the reciprocal tourist fee...something in the area of $160.00.

This web page appears to be provided for travelers from the Middle East. I imagine the details would apply. If you are really stuck on this route, you might want to reach out to the Brazilian Embassy

Brazil is a pain to access, but its worth it. I can't figure out why are you want to cross through a small corner of it. Considering the expense and paperwork, I would look into different routes.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
