Brasillian gas, commum or additivo?
Did you use Commom or Additivo when you drove through Brasil? ive been looking for whats the big differance and how bikes run on either. Im riding a klr. Does anyone know the octane on this gas? Im in brasil and I cant speak a lick of language.

Ola Apate, the comon gas is around 82 octain and the aditivo is around 87, all depending on the company.

Where are you and where you headed.

Right ow Im in Rio for the next week and then after that Im heading up north via the coast tell I can get on a boat in belem to manuas. 82 octane for comm. I guess I should start using the additivo.

apart from the low octane, brazilian petrol contains 24% of ethanol too. Bikes and cars here are adapted for this mess but for a foreign bike you should take aditivado which makes the damage a bit less...

I looked at the website for the Pousada Holandes. Is that yours? If so, do you offer discounts for bikers? Do you have a place to camp? I´m currently in Florianopolis, heading north in about a week or so.

yes it is ours (Elena and me). In fact we are busy making a campsite nextdoor but isn´t finished yet and a bit of a mess still. But you are welcome to stay camp here though(for free).

NIce to see people who live in Brazil posting here - both Brazilians and others who now live in Brazil. Marker - you're from the Netherlands orginally? I worked in Wyk en Zee at Hoogovens many years ago....

My wife is from SP - we hope to retire to Brazil in about 11 years.

Excellent. Roosendaal is the south of the Netherlands? Why Brazil? Just curious.....

We'll see if we can come visit you next time we're in Brazil. Normally, we visit once a year but this may be an off-year for us. Instead, we'll probably bring MrsK7's nephew up to visit us and then take a longer visit home next year. I haven't visited the southern part of Brazil so it's time.

I am from Brazil but I don't live there anymore... just heads up with cheap gas in Brazil... they are really bad becasue the contain solvents.... keep fueling on recognizable brands gas stations unless none is available... the cheap gas in Brazil will cause your fuel line to crack due to dryness and also might lock your engine because will mess if the qualility of your oil... Aditivada or Comum, it doesnt mater... gas there is pretty shitty....

No not because of Samba neither did I not get caught by one of the many ´piranhas´.....Just love the place and the south is a great mixture of the pros of the western world and exotic places and no(t too many) cons...
Yes you should visit Bombas/Bombinhas, but if possible avoid holiday season here (jan/feb)as it is overcrowded than. Good for our business but not for visiting!

About the fuel, yes avoid the cheap fuel! Gasolina contains 24% of the cheaper alcohol. (and often more then this although illegal).And alcohol can hold water so they can add more water too in the mixture ..

Well, I didn't marry a piranha either. I think I married the only Brazilian who didn't want to move to the US. Took us four years to get married and another nine months to get her to move to the US.

The southern part of Brazil is where we'll likely settle when it's time to retire - for the reasons that you mentioned.

We'll come see you someday - definitely not in a Jan. or Feb... I hate crowds.

Your not the only one!
I moved here in May 2002 got married in June 2002 and am still here!
She says the only will only think about moving to the US of A is if the Gov. here starts swinging to the Chaves way of Government. Till then, guess Im stuck here.

Southern Brazil is a good choose. We are in Rio Grande do Sul about 2 hours north of Porto Alegre out in the mountains in wine country.
Arkansas boy moved south, way south!
