BMW Bogota

Can i just say what a wonderful bunch of people that work at BMW Bogota. The mechanic,David actually came in on Saturday his day off and his Birthday to do some valve adjustment on my bike plus a couple of other bits.3 lovely smiling ladies on reception.Taxi ride to hotel on their account. You would think i was buying a $100,000 car.
I have had worse experience in UK and Europe where thay seem to treat bikers as 2nd class citizens(unless you are buying a new vehicle of course).I have actually sat on the kerb ouitside one dealership in Spain, whilst they did some work on bike, after Siesta of course !
Thanks to BM Bogota and Colombians in general.Lovely people !

Nice to hear....what bike was being serviced?I ask as I'll be on my way next week on my 1200GS and may need a service by then.

Can I ask how much you paid and what kind of service you had done?

Many Thanks

Nik

Hi
I just had them adjust valves and sync cylinders.Drop gear and drive oil(found GL5 hard to come by in CA)They also changed a tyre that i had with me.I had dropped engine myself back in El salvador. They wanted to do normal sevice including checking battery level etc.Seeing as i have a sealed battery i asked them not to bother with the silly bits and peices. So they are quite happy to do a tailored service so to speak.
Cost me 160,000 peso (about 40 quid i think)oh,he gave me a litre of GL5 gear oil to take with me,Gratis !
If you want details of where they are email me.
Bloody speedo went 200 miles south of Bogota,BMW here in Quito don´t have part.Didn´t get free taxi ride from them either as i did in Bogota. !I will ask them tomorrow when i pick it up if they could borrow the part, off a police bike they have in bits next to mine. What´s the chance of that you recon ?
I would definately reccomend Bogota BMW and not Quito if you are coming this way.

Have fun !

I turned up at BMW Quito on a 1992 R-100 GS and two different Employees asked me if it was a BMW!

The mechanic, on the other hand knew his stuff. It wasn't cheap.
