This warning is specifically about Ricardo Rocco Paz, a well-known Quito rider and businessman (motel, biker flophouse and moto rental and touring, Andes Moto Tours) in Quito. Ricardo is a very friendly English speaking guy. This man is not to be trusted. Definitely do not leave a bike with him, rent a bike, sell to or buy a bike from him unless you don't mind getting screwed. If you sell him or anyone else a bike in S. America, be sure to get the money up front no matter what kind of promises you get from a friendly guy that seems trustworthy. For more details about this matter see: www1.webng.com/erst/ . Later, amigo. Lew (a former close friend of Ricardo's)

Dragged Screaming

I,m bringing this old thread back from the dead so that the latest crop of bikery types can find their way to this old wateringhole in Ecuador and invite comments from all the guys I,ve been cynicly exploiting since the last time we saw this on the Latin America front page.
It also gives me a chance to thank all the folks who did drop in for the pleasure of their company and sorry to all those I missed due to work commitments
Thanks again to all of you!!!

Hi Albert!

I had an absolutely awesome time at your pub. I arrived fresh from Colombia, dirty, wet, hungry, exhausted- and your girls took care of me, just right. Ah- the fireplace, the , the fish&chips, and of course the friends I made there. It was actually a highlight of the ride. Nothing compares to crossing the equator for the first time, then getting blitzed on good !

BTW, we're having a little rally in South Dakota, for as many North American-based Latin America riders. Details are in dispute. Your input would be apreciated (but probably ignored, unless we could get you to come?)

Thanks again.

Max

Anything I can do to help let me know and if you can find anyone daft enough to lend me a fun bike and it,ll have to be after the 10th of August as one of my staff is getting married and I,m the MC at the wedding.
I,d love to come, sounds like a hoot, but you know me I,ll probably get arrested for my lane'splitting antics!!!

Back from the dead

I,m dragging this old thread back from the dead to call attention to some thing I,m trying to organize.
Colombia Libre! Cartagena 2009
It,ll be an international Riders meeting in November 2009
I,ve talked to Ktm Colombia and Bmw Colombia and have the support from Riders in many nations in the Americas!
I,ll start another thread here soon as the details come together, but I,d also like any input or suggestions you might have in ways to get more attention and how to organize such a thing!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
