Anyone hubbers living in Quito? Need an address to ship to and a recommended courier

Hi everyone:

Writing to you from inside my tent as rain pours down hard here in Guatepe, Colombia. I finally left Medellin! (it was very difficult).

What is normally a very comfortable laying down experience is ruined thanks to my Exped Synmat 7 blowing all the internal baffles and now my back is hitting the ground; my feet are elevated; it's just ridiculous. Obviously this won't work in the Autocama desert or for that matter camping in other places.... so I need to ship myself a replacement pad. Exped has a lifetime warranty on their products so it's not the end of the world.

Anyways.... I'm curious about:
1) Does anyone live in Quito, Ecuador? Or know anyone/hostel/hotel/etc who could receive a package on my behalf?
2) What's a recommended shipper? I know that usually sending through USPS is a recipe for disaster.

Many thanks in advance.
David

Try writing to Claus at Home - Casa Helbling

I had stuff shipped to Casa Helbling over the last few weeks. Klaus, Hubert and Thomas will be able to advise.
One thing though, you should know the 4x4 rule. If your package is sent by ordinary post, it weighs under 4kg and is valued at less than US$400 then it should get through customs without any problems.
Another word of advice, don't use UK ParcelForce. They use FedEx as a partner and change the tracking number in the US. I was waiting weeks until customer services answered my emails and gave me the new number.

Good luck.
