Anyone flying into Buenos Aires in the next 2 weeks and can bring me an XT600 Disc ?
Silly Ted has ruining his front disc in multiple crashes and low brake pad situations and now needs a new one..
Its proving very difficult to source one in Argentina and I need to roll out of this place in the next 2 weeks..
If anyone is in the possition to help, my appreciation would be unfathomable !!!
If anyone can help me out, I can order a disc in the UK or another country and have it delivered to them before they leave...

I'm on Brazil, we can find it here, but I don't know how many time it needs to arrive on Buenos Aires.
I believe that by plane it will cost so much.

We have a friend from Buenos Aires, that is coming to Brazil do a motorcycle meet on the next weekend.
I believe he can get the disc here for you, then give for you on Buenos Aires.
But I'm not correct if he comes. I'll send some mails from him.

Hello again my friend and thank you for the replies..
I think posting from Brazil will take too long as customs in Argentina is a nightmare. Javier says it sometimes takes longer than from England.
If your friend can bring me one, that would be AMAZING. I want to leave Dakar Motos on the 15th March.
I am actually going to come north through Brazil and I know I can get a disc there but I don't want to ride all the way there with bad brakes.

There is a huge Yamaha dealership in Asuncion. Why not trying your luck there? it s only one bus night away from Buenos Aires (a return ticket cost something like 40 Euros) and a single room in the center is in the same price range as for Dakar Moto bunk beds.

Thanks for the tip but its not really feasable at the moment... I need to do other repairs and servicing here before I leave.
Dakar Motos is a bargain considering you get to store your bike, use Javiers tools (and advice) while mixing and mingling with lots of friendly travelers...
Dakar Motos is a home from home and a GREAT deal cheaper than BA downtown..

Is there any chance you could have your disc turned on a lathe?
Or has it been damaged beyond repair ?

Tried and failed..
The disk was warped AND scored from low pads..
A guy here in BA managed to smooth it out but it only made the warp worse..
It could maybe be straightened but then it would have to be reground making it dangerously thin
Alas.... I think i will have a disc soon. With the great help of Robson and his Argentinian friend....

Hi Ted,
Easier said than done, but concider having one made. either from scratch or modifing a new or used disc. I have seen one made from an old morris minor fly wheel.
If it is important to get back on the road, look for alternatives in case plan A does not work, no good waiting for plan A to fail and then start plan B

Problem sorted
I have managed to have my original disc repaired..
It still has a warp in it but now after a 600km test ride, the disc appears to be working perfectly.
Thankyou SO MUCH to Robson who worked very hard trying to get me a replacement

Everytime you crash or have a topple, the fixings and frame bend and break and the lid wont shut. For me, they are just complex and fragile and mine are so thick and bendy, they are REALLY difficult to straighten and repair.

I had a few workshops try to straighten them too with no luck..
Dont misunderstand me, the metal mule boxes are VERY strong and well made but like all ally boxes, they are heavy, aukward, hard to repair and expensive..
Im sending mine home along with half my stuff and ill only be using soft bags filled with clothes and all my hard stuff in my ortlieb.
Im going super lightweight and using softbags ( I should of listening to people in the first place who told me this)
