Alex Paul David, killed by bus in Peru

Fellow rider Alex was from USA riding a Honda XR650R was killed according to police by a bus driver who went wide on a curve.
I met him in San Salvador, we rode to San Salvador volcano and coffee farm, he was 29 and liked his XR a lot, and knew how to ride it too.

Very sad, we had an young Aussie killed here in Brazil last week in an accident with a truck. His name was Adrian Kemmis and he was in his 5th week into his big adventure, a RTW trip. There´s a link here on HU about this.

At least these kids died doing something that they loved and the best thing we can do to honor their memory is to put our bikes on the road and get lost on this immense world IMO.

I am so sorry to read of Alex's death. All of us know how close it is sometimes; but I was saddened to read of this.

I was travelling the same road from the Cañon del Colca to Arequipa on Saturday and the locals told me about the young American motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a bus the previous day...

And on Sunday I read here on the HUBB about Adrian - how very, very sad. My thoughts are with Alex's family and friends, it must be terrible when your worst fears about your loved ones become reality... What a loss.

Rest in peace, Alex, vaya con Dios. And all you other travellers out there, ride safe, enjoy what you are doing and live your life to the full.

I was saddened to hear of these deaths. I met Alex in Ayacucho and in Cuzco. We were going to ride the route to Santa Teresa together but our time schedules didnt work out.

I have been thinking about this quite a bit since Mario told me the news, and thought about all the close calls I have had in the last year of my trip, and how easily it could have been me.

RIP brothers.

One is too many !!

Please ride safe everyone. I hate reading these posts, especially when on the road myself. It gives you a real mortality check. It's this time of year when many people are travelling and the risks are high.

Everyone, please.. Get back home safe !!

RIP !! :(
