Experience w. new Darien Gap ferry

I just read about a new ferry in operation bridging the Darien Gap.

Ferryxpress

Does anybody have experience with the ferry?
Is it a worthwhile option?

Cheers, Wauschi

Thumbs down Ferry AND Sail boats r.i.p for motorcycles

No more sea crossings between Panama and Columbia - Ferry stopped in late April 2015, and Panama Customs finally shut down sail boats carrying motorcycles as they are 'cargo'.

I am in Panama now trying to track down a cargo boat. Failing that the bike and I fly.

If anyone else is in Panama and has a lead on how to get a bike across please PM me asap

Stahlratte & San Blas Ferry would be two solution beside shipping it from Panama to Colombia (or other way around).

Stahlratte link

San Blas Ferry

Stahlratte is about $1,500 for passenger/bike and San Blas Ferry about $840 (no meal, no immigration/custom paperwork).

San Blas Ferry

This information is from Martin McGowan's post in Overland Sphere Facebook page

San Blas Ferry Update: Just had an update on the service from the owner
Next Sailings: Panama to Colombia August 4th 2015 / Colombia to Panama August 6th 2015.
We are able to provide a 10% discount for bookings referred by us, if we are able to book a group of 5 vehicles or more we may be able to secure a 25% discount, which would make the service more attractive.
I have asked for details of people blogs etc from previous sailing as a reference, as we still do not know of anyone who has sailed recently.
If you would be interested in this service please let me know and we will see if we can arrange a group booking.
Please note the prices quoted are still more expensive than RORO & Container shipping, but you are able to go with the vehicle and take pets,
Prices below (not inc discounts) - SanBlasFerry - Pricelist

*Note all bookings will be at your own risk and subject to the T&C’s of Sanblasferry. Overland Sphere will only help provide a discount, no commercial agreement will exist between any party and Overland Sphere.

Didn't realize you were on the HUBB! I can't PM as of yet due to not enough posts/security. Will you still be in the Columbia/Panama region next year or moving north?
