Is your passport stamped with vehicle details in Morocco?

Hi folks
I am proposing to leave my vehicle in Marrakesh and fly out for a couple of weeks. Some countries stamp details of your vehicle in your passport to prevent you leaving without it. Is this the case in Morocco?

Also can anyone recommend secure parking in Marrakesh. I have an overland truck.

Thanks Clive

Yes they do stamp it in - or certainly your CIN passport stamp (see here) will be associated with your vehicle.
I dont think it will be as easy as leaving it in a hotel car park - you may have to declare/lodge it with Customs or police somewhere.
Someone else will know for sure. It may even be easier to nip back to Spain and park it there.

i left my motorbike in Ouarzazate for the moment.
It had to be sealed official. I got papers too, to show at the airport, flying back to Belgium.

They didn't want you to deposit a large sum of money?

5 euro's a day. Still cheaper and easier / then more comfortable then driving to Belgium / Brussels and back.

This happen to us/me all the time while running groups [4x4 - Motorhomes]

Just get the paperwork completed at the main police station in Marra [If you wish or they get arse say it has broken down and you are going to get parts in Euro].

Leave vehicle at the campsite on the Cassa road, Camping Fadous I think it is called. Park next to reception or cafe......100% safe. Use their mini bus for airport drop and collection, that cost me 30e total last week.

In Tunisia they were pretty adamant we deposit 3000 euros if we wished to leave our old banger behind fpr a couple weeks. I thought it was the same in Morocco.

I visited Morocco in August this year without getting any bike details stamped or written in my passport.

I arrived by fast ferry from Tarifa and left the same way. Very hassle free.

cheers

It would be interesting to know if it is indeed possible to keep a vehicle in Morocco. since it is quite easy to get there with Ryanair these days (and lots of 10 euro tickets at the moment!).
Don't they have the same deposit requirement as Tunisia?
The deposit gets higher with an older car.
I don't wish to use a carnet.

Thanks

Thanks for all the info - it looks as though its possible but not as easy as I'd hoped. Detourer - I guess the campsite you mean is Camping Ferdaous.

Clive
