Will Morocco let my car into the country with EU export plates?

I need to drive through Morocco on my way to Mauritania. I will have a car purchased in the EU (germany) with export plates on it. Will Moroccan customs let me enter Morocco with export plates? I cannot find this information anywhere and nobody seems to have the answer. And I don't know whom to ask and don't speak French. Someone please help me if possible. Thank you.

As far as I know, you can, since there is this place: "el choque" that sells export vehicles for Africa.

They normally got many interesting machines:

To enter Morocco whichever vehicle's papers must be in your name. That is it.

Do you speak swia Arabia ?

good luck por favor.

You

Monkii, You will not have problems. In 2007 my friends go from Germany to Gambia on 2 cars with Germany export plate - They had no problems.

In this year I will go to Gambia on Germany"s car with export plate - I will buy it in Berlin 24-25 jan.

Thanks. This is such a relief. If anyone else has stories to further confirm this, please post them. I need to be 100% sure before I get on that ferry!

Hi monkii,

German Export Plates are a common sight on the Atlantic route.
You can check out some picture of cars with german export plates on the home page of the german rally:
Rallye Dresden-Dakar-Banjul

most of the depicted cars have the typical white plates with a red section on the right hand side.
You can even buy an insurance for Morocco when you purchase the plates, which I recommend because it is usually cheaper than buying the insurance at the border.

Hans (who used regular plates driving down there, because the car was registered in my name anyhow.)

Hello, yes no problem, go with export plates. You get checked a lot the farterh down you travel on the atlantic route, but only passports. I was down there on Swiss export plates, absolutely no problem. You see a lot of Maroccans driving the German export plates. In Mauretania you need to buy an insurance anyway.
Have a good trip.
