Marrakesh campsite

Camping Relais de Marrakesh is much nearer town. Opposite the Stade de Marrakesh on the right as you approach town. 6€50 for two people plus tent. Much easier for visiting the Medina. And no noisy peacocks!

Koutoubia Mosque car park

We checked out one of the campsite about 12Km before Marrakech (can’t remember which one) but felt it did not look very lively, so we drove on to Marrakech and camped for the night in the car park of Koutoubia Mosque (N31˚ 37’ 30.7” W007˚ 59’ 50.5”) which is opposite the famous Djemma el-Fna night market. This was back in Dec 2004 and the car park attendant was okay with us setting up camp for the night.

Arrow Camping Firdaous

Hi,
I stayed in Camping Firdaous on the Casablanca Road outside of Marrakech. Would recommend it. Don't have waypoints though.

I did a search for "Camping Firdaous" on Google, though. It threw up:
  • This page which contains the camping site's the phone number: 024 30 23 11. (Look for 'Campings' on the page when it loads, i.e. Ctrl+F and enter 'Campings'.)
  • Strange page that seems to have various waypoints in an XML format.
I'm not a GPS user (yet!), but I expect this is a format that you can download directly into your GPS device. In any case, searching through the XML yields Camping Firdaous' location to be lat="31.719130" lon="-7.981863".

(Looks like this is the same 12-km-out-of-town site mentioned above; GPS agrees too.)

Hope this helps!
Ken.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
