Where is the weather OK from Feb to May?
I'm hoping to make my first trip to the Sahara soon, on my BMW 1150GS. I probably won't leave London until late Feb and would like to be away for 3 months. I'm worried that I won't get far south before the heat gets too much. And maybe wind will ruin all those desert vistas. Ideally I'd like to do an anti-clockwise loop from Tunisia to Algeria, Niger, Mali, Mauretania and Morocco. Is this a good idea? And if not, what's a better route at that time of year?

How hot is in the eye of he who is heated of course, but I would say its too late, esp first time and with West Africa. It moves into the hottest time ..
One can hack it of course but, esp in W Af, one's chances of getting ill are greatly increased when it is hot. And in W Af, it feels much hotter than the dz. And as you say, in the dz the wind will take the edge off the scenery. A better time would be November All IMHO, of course, but believe me,it is hard enough on a bike... as I'm hearing from a guy in Agadez right now and will soon be reminded myself! Thanks Chris. Reckon I'd better spend Spring in Morocco and save the tough stuff for another day. Dammit - I was actually rather excited by the idea of finding your mystery gift in the middle of nowhere. I love the idea of a Saharan treasure hunt! Good luck on your upcoming trip - if you haven't left yet.

I doubt if you will be knocked over in the rush . There's another treasure bottle I forgot to mention on the rim of the middle of three tombs on Route A5, KM360 approx - less remote than Balise 112...
