There are lots of roads like that in Morocco - have fun on all of them trying to find that one!

Actually, you could always give Yamaha's marketing dept a ring and ask them where that particular location for the brochure was shot - I'm sure someone would be able to find out for you? (can't see why they wouldn't tell you...)

Actually, that's given me a really dweeby idea for a photo thread (perhaps on XT660.com in this instance) - maybe people could post pictures of promotional/brochure shots re-enactments - the one outside the abandoned gas station would be easy to do - it's on the N10 west of Ouarzazate...

no, there is only one road like this in morocco - Gorge du Dades - Todra.



Fly there in Google Earth: 31° 31.660'N 5° 55.503'W and turn north to south.

Its really a "must" in morocco, do it. If You need a GPS-route, tell me.

What I meant is there are lots of similar roads to that in Morocco, and it would be fun riding them all in an effort to find that particular photo location...

there is only one road like this and no similars, but another ones which are also nice, but not similar.

Try to find out and then tell me if I'm right.

Yawn... there are loads of roads that wind their way out of gorges in Morocco Ulrich - what exactly is your problem?

Todra is very beautiful, it is also often busy with tourists, 4x4s etc etc. There are countless roads (and trails) throughout the Atlas mountains that all offer similar views and experiences to the one in the picture Tomo posted above...

For example, The Tizi-n-Tichka pass is similar, the road from the N8 up to the Cascades d'Ouzoud is similar, the R307 from Demnate to Assermo is similar... and all are worth including in a trip... stop being so precious and pedantic!

As Ulrich correctly notes, the road is in the Dades gorge area. But there's many other places in Morocco that are its equal.

Before you get to that spot you pass the famous doits de singe (monkey fingers) rock outcrops. It's worth carrying on a bit further north past the hairpins when you arrive at the spot below...

Sod! Try youtube if you must. Putting in a town's name often comes up with very valuable material. "Rif" has convinced me to head that way after Ceuta. Looks excellent to me looking for real Morocco rather than touristy Morocco. Linzi.

Be fair, I don't think Ulrich as a problem, could it be the way you have interpreted his post, remember his native language is probably not English, quite often when Dutch and Germans speak English it is often said that they are abrupt, how do we sound to them when we speak thier language? Thought so........We don't !

Quite possibly - I appreciate what you're saying about native language - which is why I explained that I meant similar roads... I got the impression he was saying there were no other roads that looked like that in Morocco, and that I had to prove otherwise? (which I did).

I apologise to Ulrich if this was a misunderstanding...
