Where can I find petrol in mali?
 

Does tombouctu have petrol and is it from a pump? Which cities in mali have petrol and which have petrol pumps?

Hi,
there is petrol in Timbukto as is in Gao, Mopti, Kidal and many other places.
Basic rule: if there is tarmac, there is petrol.

At many other places there is petrol from drums or jerrycans.

Petrol is available in all big towns on the map...and if you carry a jerry can or two, you should be ok.
When filling up at the pump...ask the pompeiste where the next station is on your route...and the one after that. Sometimes these stations may be out.
I didn't have a problem and went a few hundred kms before the next station.
As I travelled there in Jan 2007, I stuck with Total stations throughout Mali and always seemed to find one.
