where to buy tyres in North West Africa?

Does anyone know where it is possible to buy tyres such as TKC 80 or similar in the Morocco to Senegal region? I would like to change my road biased tyres before heading further south.

Moto Plus in Casablanca holds a massive stock of tyres. No TKC80s but they have Karoos and Saharas. The Karoo is brilliant though a little noisy on tarmac.

Moto Plus write up and GPS waypoints on UKGSer.

Seeing as you are from Australia I'll mention that there's a shop on the opposite corner of the street.

Thanks Tim,
I was there the other day and they were very helpful in engineering a new mirror mount for my wife's bike but sadly the stock of tyres seems to be down. They could only offer pirelli scorpions or metzler tourtance which happen to be the tyres we currently have fitted to our bikes. Will go with these and try for something else in Nigeria as by then we will be actually needing rather than wanting something different.
regards
Simon

That's a pity. What size were you looking for?

You used to be able to get part worn tyres in popular sizes in Zagora from when the Dakar Rally passed through, but I guess that's not so likely now.

Places like Bikershome, Wilderness Wheels and Motoaventures (all in Ouarzazate) hold stocks for their own needs and might be able to help.

If it's a tubeless for BMW you could try BMW Smeia in Casablanca, N33 35.881 W7 34.952

They were still around in Zagora last March (2010) - we got offerred Michelin Deserts for my mates KTM (he'd trashed his Karoos in less than 10 days on the Maroc rocks - our MT21s on XTs, admittedly with half the horsepower, were less than 1/4 worn..) at the fuel station on the main drag just up from the Hotel Panorama/52 Jours sign. There was also a mechanic on a moped touting for business, so worth asking if you're passing through. Have a great trip - looking forward to heading out in April!
