Chad visas

Concur re the Chad visa and ease of application in Niamey, Niger, we got 4 issued inside 12 hours in April 2006, no letters of intro just 2 photos each and the standard application form, despite internal war in Chad. In fact there was abortive attack on N'djema the following night, borders were closed for 12 hours but then re-opened and we crossed on Lake Chad route without any problems, few rebel bodies in capital and lots of French paras around.

Does anyone know how quickly the Mali visa will be issued in the embassy in Nouakchatt?

Is it same day over the counter, or do they like to take your passport for a few days while they think about it? I am on a tight schedule for Mauaritiania and just considering whether it is worth the hassle of trying to get one before departure.

cheers

Mali visa

Hi Javier,

Thanks for your post; very informative.
I was completly unaware that the visa for Mali could be taken at the border.

But, I still have one doubt about Mali visa.
I'm planning to go to Timbuktu next January. I haven't decided yet the route, but it will be either Nema-Nara or Nema-Nampala or Nema-Timbuktu (direct route).
Do you consider these as "small border posts" where it might be difficult to get a visa? Or do you feel that every border post will have a sticker or some sort of visa?

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
José
