visa mauretania in Brussels

I'd like to get a visum for mauretania, and contacted the ambassy in Brussels. They wrote that i'll need to show or a carnet de passage or a flight ticket.
As long as i know, i don't need a carnet for RIM, and i thought the days of getting a flight ticket and cancelling it were over?
Anybody any ideas about this?

If you're driving, get it in Casa. Cheaper to.

Or at the border - more convenient but more expensive.

It's fairer to everyone if you just get your visa in Casa or on the border - rather than messing RAM around unnecessarily.

OK,
I booked a flight online by Air France, and printed the reservation bill. I'll see if it works.
I haven't paid anything to Air France yet, and as long as i don't, my reservation will be cancelled in 3 days. Sounds perfect.
I must say they aren't very cooperative here at the ambassy in Belgium.
We'll see...

Probably the fact they're wondering if they'll keep their jobs. Ambassador was in Nouakchott last week schmoozing in with the new crowd in a bid to keep his.
