URGENT: Motorcycle repair shops in Morocco?

Apologies for gatecrashing - I'm logged in as Dave Lomax but it's actually his better half here, Julie.

Dave's currently in Morocco and has had some fairly serious motorbike problems. Does anyone know of any motorcycle repair shops in Morocco?? The bike is temporarily patched but needs looking at - something to do with a sprocket put on backwards, a blown oil seal and leaking oil, amongst other things

He and a friend are heading down on piste to Boudenib, then to Merzouga, on to Zagora and then heading south. Are there any places roughly on this route???? If not, does anyone know of any reliable places anywhere in Morocco? He's riding a DRZ400, if that's relevant.

Cheers,

Dave (via Julie).

Theres phone numbers on the front page and i reckon even if they cant help they'll have an idea of anyone on route who can.

motoaventures may be worth a crack n all

I had my bike looked at by Gordito in Zagora - the mech there is a Dakar regular and knows what he's doing... he's on the main drag through the town, just outside the city gate on the RHS ...

I'm sure they are a good motorcycle repair shop in Zagora, in front of the gendarmerie ( means police ), ask for ZAID,

he is friendly and helpfull, he help us, but when you arrive at Zagora with bike ( even by night ) many guys with moped ask you if you want repair maintenance etc...
Maybe you can find also at Erfoud or Risani ( more close to boudnib)

Zagora

I think i may have used the same mechanic as gregorius. There are a few well equiped mechanics (bike and 4x4) in this town as the many of the rallys pass through at various times of the year.

And theres a hotel in town that sells beer- bonus.

The bikers guest house in Quarzazate is also highly reccomendable. he will also pick you up anywhere in the region if you got trouble. he's on google and has a great guest house with beer as well, ow, and the food!

Julie

From what you've described it could be the seal behind the gearbox sprocket thats gone.

I've tried to ring dave but got no answer. If he needs a spare seal our van leaves on Saturday with the bikes and we're flying into Malaga early on Tuesday morning. Then onto Morocco. If he needs a seal let me know asap and i'll pick one up.

Dave's got my number but if you need it its 07973 741335.

For the cost of a seal take one anyway. I'll cover the cost if he does not need it.

:thumbup1: Mohammed Gordito in Zagora :thumbup1:

He'll fix anything for a fiver - well. One of the best mechanics in Morocco

Unfortunately, he makes the worst tea in all Africa:pinch: but he means well.

I have ordered a gearbox oil seal in case that is the problem. Nobody local has them but its being sent from Fowlers in Bristol so i should have it in the morning hopefully.

I fly out to Malaga early Tuesday morning, pick up my bike and cross over to Morocco Tuesday pm via Ceuta.

Dave has got my number, if he needs the seal either leave a message here before Monday or get him to ring me.

At a cost of £3.64 plus vat and postage i ain't bothered about payment, and anyway hopefully Davids got it sorted by then so it won't be needed.

Good luck.

In Risani there's a father and son outfit that helped me when I toasted my Transalp clutch.

They are on the right side, a bit down a side street (petrol pump for mopeds(?!) out front: visible from main road) on the road out of Risani towards Merzouga, before the (left) turning for the Merzouga road.

HTH and good luck,

ChrisB
