update on hotel Barbas 80km from mauri border?

Anyone have any up to date info on hotel Barbas, 80km north of Mauri border?? Did a search but only old info found. Heard they were renovating. Is it possible to get a room there and how much does it cost??
And fuel situation as well??

thanks

Motel Barbas N22.05483 W16.74661
is always undergoing renovations! and is adding more and more basic rooms-
Price? ask then haggle! but be aware that it is the only bed before Mauritania and the main 'funnel' stop for all heading south.
If full, plenty of places to shelter- but you'd be wise to have at least a tarp as you have no tent... saves you from worries about finding accom.

As with everything in Africa, there never are any guarantees- you have to leave the 'European' mind-set at home- and tune in to how life works out there.
Fuel- Diesel and petrol is there as long as they have received their deliveries... that the mains are working (were blown last time) or the genny had not packed in. If not...you just wait there until they do! best use your own fuel filter- to prevent a lot of crud entering your tank as with all pumps I have come across in Africa ( or bottles or drums)

it has a restaurant and a grocery store- last one until NCK -

I stopped for lunch and fuel there last week.

Renovations were being done - is now becoming quite a huge place - owner said another 2 weeks and it would be 'open' which isn't the same as finished!

There are 2 fuel stations there now.
