UK Reg Vehicle in Morocco. How Long?

Currently in Morocco with UK reg vehicle it has been here approach 3 months in mid June. Is this the maximum it can stay?

I have had various reports saying 3 months and others saying 6 months.

Also can you bring the same UK vehicle back into Morocco after taking it out, like I have to do with my visa.

Last thing is when the vehicle came into country it was driven by my business partner I will be taking it back out. Will i get grief at port as it was not m ethat imported it? Last time I went through the port was 85 so cannot remember and I am sure it will have changed anyway

I understand it's three months, you can come back in with it and you may well have grief trying to take it out as its entry was associated with another passport - its all computerised these days.

I imagine it may help if you have the entry passport details and date, including the CIN #. Or a letter from him with the same details

Unless things have changed in the last 2 years, the maximum it can stay is until the date on (top of?) your CIN form. Usually they only give you about 2 months at the border, unless you ask for longer (most people come and go within 3 weeks etc).

So check that date - if it has already past then you have a problem and will be fined most likely. If it is approaching, go to your nearest customs office (I have done this at Marrakech Airport for example) and get them to extend it.

The rule is 'in any 12 month period you can have your vehicle in Morocco for 6 months'. This is not from Jan to Dec or anything like that - on any given day if your vehicle has been in the country for more than 6 months out of the last 12 you have a problem - technically the vehicle belongs to the King until you pay a fine etc.

Its all pretty simple - plenty of old timers stay all winter in their motor homes etc.

Visa's last for 3 months - can be extended for another 3 months - so maybe people are getting confused by that (thinking because they can only stay for 3 months so can the vehicle).

Then as per Chris - you have made things more difficult - so first get a letter from your business partner and copies of their passport and stamps etc etc to take to customs with you

Most visas 90 days extendable - car 1 or 2 months.
By 'CIN form' I think Yak means the A5-sized Declaration D’Admission Temporaire de Moyens de Transport: 'TVIP' as I call it, or 'D16'.
It does have your CIN marked on it.

Thanks very much for the above, it is very useful. I am spending a lot of time in Morocco at present so will now plan on vehicle allocation a year ahead so we do not have any here more than 6 months in any 12 month period

Update on above. We brought the vehicle in on the 20/03/2009 and on the top of form they have given a date of 15/09/09 so it looks like we have just short of 6 months before having to take out of country !

This makes life easier for us as we be able to swap vehicles every 6 months instead of every 2 or 3

By the way I am based Marrakech for a fair part of the year and I have a small team of people their of both locals and international staff based in Marrakech and the Ourika valley in Atlas mountains.

If anyone needs assitance I will help where I can

It's worth keeping all of the old forms as sometimes an exit or entry is not recorded properly - things are sorted out quickly if you slap a bunch of previous papers down. Though I suspect this applies more if you entry/exit into Mori in the south where details where radioed in and out previously. Maybe this has changed with the upgraded facilities down there.

I am surprised that he managed to leave the country without the vehicle.
As the vehicle is linked to the import form I would have expected a heavy hand on his shoulder as he tried to exit the country.

They let you out without the vehicle - if you don't come back and take it out of the country before the aforementioned expiry date then you have big fines or loss of the vehicle to deal with.

I have done it for a few days, but they made me leave the vehicle with Customs.

Decided to leave the vehicle as it has up to 15 Sept on import docs. The driver who drove it into country will fly down and drive it out.

I am looking to buy a LC this week to drive down to the Ourika Valley pick up gear and drive back.
