Started lurking on this forum almost 2 years ago and got virtually everything I know from it and Chris's book. It was incredibly helpful and confidence boosting, but I bet there are still loads of people out there who, like me were pretty intimidated at the prospect of what turns out to be fairly straightforward in the end. Now I want to go back, but finances dictate otherwise so sadly the wonderful 1990 TLC is for sale, as is all the specialist gear for the trip...offers?

Sorry, I forgot to say: big thank you to everybody on this site (and Chris in particular) without whom I probably would still have gone, but with whose advice and info I felt a lot more comfortable. The FCO site would have had me believe it was all sand dunes from NDB to NKT and that the RIM/Mali border was heaving with terrorists, bandits and other undesirables; reports from you guys who were actually on the spot were rather more credible. So thanks again and all the best to you who are still trying to pluck up the courage, collect the money, get the time off work...:thumbup1:
