Which Tunis ferry route is best for bikers?

Ignoring price and distance considerations, which ferry service from France or Italy ends with the least painful Tunisian immigration procedures? Chris Scott's description of the queuing in Sahara Overland doesn't inspire me....

You queue on the boats either way but I now think the experience which I related ] in the book in '98 was unusually bad. If you time it right it can be just an hour as it has been for me last couple of times from either port.
Marseille is a quieter route (away from Xmas) as all the Germanics funnel to nearer/cheaper Genoa, tho this year will be quiet anyway.

Consider motorailing too:
Calais to Nice (for Mar or Gen), or Paris to Marseille, if its mid-winter

Thanks Chris. Motorail is a definite - the main reason I'm going is that I hate the cold so much.
