Trip to Morocco via Spain

Me and a couple of mates have planned a trip to Morocco via Spain on our bikes for a bit of overland fun. The trip was originally planned for September this year, but due to work problems we now are faced with doing the trip in November. Can anyone tell me what weather will be like in Spain and Morocco for riding at this time of year (including High Atlas) and also what hours of daylight will be like? We are intending bivi'ing during the trip. Cheers.

Been in Morocco including high atlas in November and then in Dec and Jan on a second trip. Early Nov was nice, cold at night but not to cold, didn't see any snow, reasonable hours of daylight, think about 8.00 - 18.00. Substantially harder in Dec / Jan, camping in Snow though high atlas, pretty cold. However even then tracks were fine, no problem getting through. Take a decent 4 season sleeping bag.

In Spain be prepared for cold, wind, maybe snow in the highest points...tough it use to appear a winter sun very nice for biking.

Day light until about 18:30, a little shorter in the north of the country

The Michelin map gives an indication of when mountain roads are likely to be closed (e.g. 11-04, 12-03). There's also snow barriers on the roads. Personally I would avoid the Rif and concentrate on the Middle/High Atlas.

You can get the hours of daylight from here. Click on 'climate statistics', then on the month. Morocco is on GMT all year round.

That site is correct. It will be pitch black at 5:30pm.

And cold until the sun has been up for a few hours in the morning (10am etc)

Thanks for the advice folks. Now I have the dilema about taking full Gortex kit or my mesh kit with waterproof outer - I'm not sure if I will be warm enough though. Any thoughts?
