travelling from spain to senegal by earth
 

Hello,

I would like to travel from spain to senegal by earth. I don´t know how are things now in morocco-ocupied sahara, and -especially- how are things in Mauritania: it´s indeed as dangerous as my government says? are there people travelling? and travelling alone? I have no bike, my intention it´s travelling in public transports, or anything recommended. How should I travel from Dakla to Nouadibu? Is it neccesary special medical warnings?

Does anybody has an answer to these questions?

It´s nice to hear there is more people with such an akward plan as to cross moroccain-occupaid sahara and mauritania.

Thank you for your offering of going with you. But it´s difficult this gets possible. Now I have to finish a work (correcting a novel) and I don´t know when I will be able of beggining my trip. Besides, my plan of travelling it´s more like travelling alone: staying all the time I want in a village, be changing plans in any time.

In any case, I can give you my email, so as you can tell how do you see your travel and also nice places for staying (or sure ways of crossing the border between Morocco and Mauritania).

Western Sahara is safe enough in my opinion... at least I never had any problems there with safety. I have seen some guys hitch-hiking there, others travelled by public transport. I wouldn't see the point, both Western Sahara and Mauritania are just a big nothing if you don't have the chance to get off the main road in your own vehicle and find a quiet camping spot in the desert for example. That might be a problem on foot. Mauritania was supposed to be really dangerous. I crossed twice, went over to Kiffa-Aioun as well, no problems. Personally, I was more concerned about the prices and my expenses in general than the security or diseases. A nice place to say, I would say Dakhla and further up in Morocco Agadir. If you are into surfing, Western Sahara has some great beaches with equipment for hire and cheap accomodation, good food.
