Travel to Marocco, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal

Hi there!
I,d been plannig to make a loop through Morocco, Mauritania, Mali(onky near the border)and Senegal by two LR 90 and 110 but 110 gave up yesterday. So, I've got a problem and I need somebody who has a similar plan of the trip. I'd like to start from Ceuta on 10th of August.
I think two cars for such a journey is minimum. Please write what is your opinion and if anybody is iterested in these travel just ask for more details.

Morocco and Mori down to Nuoakachott should be no problem but think carefully how you want to get to Mali. If you go via Senegal there are good roads, I understand. However , from Mori to Kayes is more difficult. We went from Mbout to Kankossa and then down to Kayes earlier this year. The road, especially in Mori, was difficult tto the point of being non existent and virtually all the bridges are washed out. OK in dry season but would be impassable in wet. Take plenty of petrol. There is no petrol from Kaedi to Kayes unless you go up to Kiffa. If you take this route two vehicles would be a good idea. We did it in one but it was a 101 :-)

I'm planning the same trip, but i wont know better Mali (Djenné, Dogon Country and Timbuktu), I'm planning the trip with 2 4WD (Toyota LC KZJ 95 and Nissan Terrano II) for start in 15 Aug. in Ceuta.

Hi,

We went form Senegal to Mali in February. Leaving Saint Louis we stopped at Djoudj National Park, it's a must.
Road along Senegal river no problem at all.
You will find petrol immediately after entering Mali.
Pretty tough road for 105 km to Kayes.
Heading for Bamako you have the choice between putting your car on a train or using a piste wich is only usebable in dry season

The biggest problem is that I don't have even second car for this trip so I delay it. I'm looking for somebody with equiped car to go with me but it's not easy.

Whilst having a second vehicle is comforting it is not essential for the route you propose.

You will probably meet up with others on the convoy entering Mauritania, if not before sorting visas out in Rabat. People are normally happy to continue onward together if a rapport is established and mutual aid on offer.

If you do travel alone and are worried about a particular section, hiring a local guide to accompany you on that part of your journey can give peace of mind.

Planning similar trip, but leaving England August 14 and touring Europe for two months before crossing into Morocco about October 20. Have two RangeRovers ready to go but fourth member of team has recently dropped out, so looking for fourth person to join.
