Trans Sahara Road
Here's an article I just happened across on the BBC News site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/2161077.stm Apparently work has started, whatever that means. Having driven both the major routes from Nouadhibou to Nouakchott it's interesting that the cost is estimated at $70 mio, not including the drive-though McDonalds at the Guerguerat  While I understand the economic benefits this road may bring, I also a bit sad and feel it'll take something away from the crossing.
