To tube or not ?

I'll probably get laughed at but there is varying advice on this. I have Mangle steel wheels with BFG All Terrains, good enough for what I need, I think.

These are tubeless tyres but it is possible to fit tubes in them. The reason for doing this is that it is easier to repair punctures in a tube and reuse the tyre when on the road but there are downsides to fitting tubes when you don't need to.

Any views or major reasons to or not to ?

I used to believe in running with tubes, but tubeless technology has moved on a long way. My advice is to run tubeless and take one spare tube to use if you need it.

If you are going to run with tubes you must check that you rims are designed to take them. Most modern rims are not. If you run with tubes on rims that are not designed to take them your insurance will be invalid, and you run a high risk of tube damage.

I have the same wheel tyre set up as you Jasper.

In my opinion it is much easier to plug tubeless tyre punctures than repair tubes.
All my punctures have been failed tubes, not stones, etc

Have a look at:
