Tangier-Med Port
 

I am planning to ship 2 landcrusier pickups from Australia to Tangier-Med Port by 40' container and then drive them down though West Africa. Has anyone used this port and can you advise on customs etc. The cars will have Australian rego etc and be accomplice by the licensed driver. I have previously driven a Nissan Patrol with German rego and had no problems.

Any other suggestions of better Ports/Customs (maybe Spain) or alternatives very welcome. I am also looking at The Gambia too.

I've driven by it a couple of times. :) It's a brand new port and hopefully you shouldn't have any problems. You will need to do a temporary importation of the vehicles, see here for details.

Port Tanger is just underneath the second 'r' of harbour in the map below. The motorway from Port Tanger running southwest towards Tanger and the Atlantic coast is now open. In the other direction there's a four lane highway running over the mountains towards Fnedq and Sebta (Ceuta).

The major difference is that my cars will be arriving by container. I assume that the paper work you describe will be the same, but I will have to deal with the Port officials to get the cars released from the container etc.

Any info on dealing with that side of the Port will also be very welcome.
