Nouakchott to Nouadhibou

Hello. I´m planing a trip in March to Mauritania. Hear about tides in the Banc D`Arguin. Any information about the rising/setting of them?

There's no need to do the beach piste - the new Mauritanian road is pretty much complete from south east of Nouamghar to Nouakchott. Less fun, no tides, more asphalt.

I took a guide last time who knew his tide tables. The 'beach route' takes two or three days, and in that time you will be able to observe the flow of the tide. The driving is not all on the beach!
Don't hurry, it's a demanding stretch and if the water is too high, sit around for a while and enjoy the space - and then leave when the tide is falling.
It is the last bit, near Nuakchott that is the wettest.
I am sure the tide tables are published on the Internet somewhere, but don't bother to look.. Just be prepared to wait an hour or two. Bon Voyage

Hello,
we thought the stretch along the beach was very nice, so I would rather go through the park than taking the new road (depends on what you want to see). However, you can get the tides from the Bureau of the National Park (you have to buy a permit anyways - we did so in Nouakchott), or you can have a look on this site http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/locations/4276.html
