Does anyone have any experience of diesel engine converted Range Rover's?
I would like to know how they stand up to a lot of driving on rough tracks, corrugations and the like. Do the engine mounts cope allright?

No personal experience, but a friend with an older Land Rover had a small (as in around 100 hp) Mercedes diesel truck engine in his, and said that it fitted right in.

In my experience any engine conversion is a risk in the Sahara - as you say engine mounts can be a problen as well as other things (mentioned in the book).

Stick with standard engines unless you know what you are taking on.
