planned route for Algeria first timer
 

Hi,
we will be entering at Taleb Larbi in Algeria on 28.01 (leaving Algeria on 7.02) therefore we have 11 days. Our planned route is:
Taleb Larbi> I-n-Salah> heading south from Erg Mehedjibat> going between Adrar Ahnet and Adrar Adafor> then turning east towards In Ecker> Tam(TSH)> Assekreme>Hirhafok > I-n-Amguel> TSH>Taleb Larbi.

Is it possible to do this route in 11 days? We have LR 110.

Hi,
yes, 11 days is ok for the tour, but it is not too much.
Arrive early at the border and don't have binoculars and CB or similar radios with you (if discovered, they will cause several hrs of delay).

How many additional days will we need if (on the way back) we turn north behind In Ecker and then go through Abdemezeh> Amguid>Bordj Omar Driss>HBH> Taleb Larbi?

that piste is closed for tourists since several years.
If it would be open easy to do HBG-Tam in 2 days, did it once in 1.5 days.

the piste is closed indeed, however I had the chance to drive around that region this Jan.
The route was In Salah-Amguid-Zaouatallaz and due to the short days (again: January) it took us about 5 days.

It's not 'that' difficult drive but it'd take several days if you really want to see things with no rush.
A really nice drive though, hope it'll be open one day for tourism.

Hi,

I've done this route last year. I don't know Merzouga-->Tagounit but it's not difficult if you don't choose to go through the ergs.
There are a lot of tracks to make detours and your guide know them.
I recommand Akly from Tanezrouft Voyages who know this (very beautiful) area as well as his pocket and who is a very good fellow to travel with.

We did the black line on that map (actually it's part of a map showing my routes but is available to all) with Akle 3 years ago. He doesn't speak much but came across as a proper desert guide who doesnt look for short cuts.
Every night he and Slimane laboured on the crap car they'd been given and on the day eastbound into In Ecker he managed to get us right onto the track in very poor viz. Quite amazing. Hope to use him again this winter, or someone like him.

Actually I got that wrong. Akle was an old guy we had cameling in the Immidir last year. Kleha was our Ahnet man.
