Pistes to Atar Mauritanie by 4x4
 

Has anybody traveled on any other piste to Atar from Maroc other than piste along side railway track out of Nouadhibou

I don't believe there is an alternative track but you can leave the railway route as early as you like and head cross country. All you have to do is aim for the gaps in the escarpments that lead into Atar at around KM486 on Route R2 - or just head SE and you'll hit the highway south of Atar eventually.

But depending on your experience trying this may give you more adventure than you bargained for...
