FS: Libyan dinars

Hello all,

I just returned from a long trip in Libya, which was excellent (still working on the tracklogs and pictures).

While scouring my pockets I discovered 75 Libyan Dinars which I forgot to change before leaving the country.

At the current price of 0.15 per litre, in Libya this is worth 500 litres of diesel, but if any one is interested, I can part with my wad of cash for a mere 30 quid.

Send me a private message to this address dinars[at]romangoz[dot]com.

Hi Roman,
Glad to see you got back to Libya, I've not been back since 2001 - I'll have to do something about that!

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. What vehicle did you take?

Cheers,
Nick.

Hello Nick,

Good to hear from you. You definitely should go there again, not only to find out what has changed in Libya since 2001 (not a lot) but also to enjoy the cheapest fuel in the world before the resident dogooders ban 4x4's over here.

We visited quite a few places we didn't go to in 2001, such as the crater at Waw el Namous, Wadi Mathendous and the Murzuq sand sea. Also, we stayed two days in Tripoli and stopped at Tobruq, Benghazi, Cyrene and other places along the coast.

I took my Landcruiser HDJ80. It performed extremely well - no problems at all (just one nearly new Bilstein shock lost due to bad oil seal - nothing to do with Toyota or my driving!).

I am still working on the pics and a writeup. Right now I have just a few pics illustrating my packing arrangement and dashboard sat-nav:

Sounds like a great trip. Maybe I'll go back in January, I was planning on heading to Mali via Mauritania, but Libya and Algeria are always worth a trip!

Glad the LC is working out for you. I've been looking at a 100 series myself we had one for a couple of weeks in Oman and the UAE. If they hadn't just completely emasculated the 75s I'd consider one of them too...

See you on the road...

Nick.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
