Mauritania consulate London & air compressortae

My friend and I are heading for the UK March next year ( from Australia ) as a prelude to a trip to the Sahara. I have found an honarary Consul on the net in London. Do they issue visas ?

Also we could bring a couple of the same air compressors over as Chris Scott for the same price I guess. Let me know if interested. We will be staying in Weybridge which is near Heathrow. We would also need/try to sell equipment such as sandladders, jerrycans etc, that we will buy in Europe, upon the end of our travels. Let me know if interested or if you want to sell/hire/lend something.

Regards
Ron

The honorary consul no longer operates as Mauritania now has a fully operational embassy in London at:

8 Carlos Place
LONDON
W1K 3AS

tel: 020-7478-9323

The visa fee is currently GBP 42.00.

The procedure is that you obtain a visa form, fill it in and send it back to them using post or fax. They then make an appointment for you (or your agent) to attend the embassy with your passport, photos and the GBP42 in cash.

Visa can be multiple entry and are valid for three months.

What's the difference between the one you get in London and the one you can get in Casablanca for a LOT less?
If someone with more experience can elaborate, please?

No difference I would say. Its normal to pay much more for visas in Europe than in Africa. They charge what they like.

Good news we Brits can avoid Casa, I reckon.

Thanks for the info. I'd think I'd rather pay more and get the visa in the UK before setting off rather than mucking about in Casablanca.

I had a good experience with the RIM visa process in London.

I know that it should take 3 wkg days to get the visas, but I asked very nicely and explained our circumstances (change of destination as we were let down on Libyan invitations and needing to go over school half-term, due to our kids) and I collected the visas just 24hrs from my phoned request for application forms.

Excellent!

Ian

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
