Niger to Algeria - Info needed

Hi there,

I'll be driving in August from Niamey to Agadez and from there to In Guezam
and Tam. I wonder if someone has fresh info about:

1. road conditions between Agadez and In Guezam
2. same as above between In Guezam and Tam
3. how long will it take from Agadez to Tam
4. petrol availability problems

Thanks !
Mario

>>> 1. road conditions between Agadez and In Guezam
no change: piste.

>>> 2. same as above between In Guezam and Tam
Latest is it is sealed halfway up to Tam - after that, piste

Thanks Chris, I can refer to the 2nd edition, then.

Should I expect any problem driving alone (one car, one person) from Agadez to Assamaka/In Guezam ? The piste should not be that difficult as far as I know.

Last, anyone know which is a good price for a guide from In Guezam up to El Oued ? I've been asked 120E/day for a guide with his own car and am waiting for confirmation of the possibility to have the guide come in my car (it seems this is not always permitted).

Thanks again,
Mario

Agadez-Arlit is tarmac, then piste through Assamakka to In Guezzam. Algerian side, at least first 150kms is new tarmac - and they're moving quickly!

You should be able to put guide in your car!

Sam.

Hi Mario,
you only need a guide in your car.
Best is to get your visa for Algeria at home, but recent experience showd that transit visa are available in Agadez

Thanks guys. So, it won't be a big prob to drive from Agadez to Tam as far as I understand. Good. Just in case, I'll be there end of august/first week of september: if anyone 's going to pass in the nearby, drop a line.

Cheers,
Mario
