Niger diplomatic representation in Libya?

Hi,

I've read somewhere that there used to be a diplomatic representation of the Niger in Sabha, Libya.

Does anyone know if it still exists?
If so, does anyone know if it issues visas for the Niger?

Thanks,
José

Hi Jose,

There is an address including phone number in the Lonely Planet guide which I tried to call but no luck. With the Chadian embassy I had more luck: they can issue visa in 48 hours in Tripoli.

Camiel

Hi Camiel,

Where did you get your Niger visa? Paris?

Apparently the Niger consulate in Sabha is operational and it is capable of providing visas.
Currently, I don't know much more than this, but a couple of days I should have more information.

By the way, can you give me the address and telephone number that it is on the Lonely Planet guide?

Thanks,
José

Hi Jose,

We will obtain Niger visa in Brussels.

As for the Tripoli address, can you pls send an email to me so that I don't forget? I will then post details here as well.

cheers,
Camiel

Hi Camiel,

Thanks for the info.
By the way, according to Niger embassy in Paris, the consulate in Sabha does not deal with visas for Europeans. These should be applied for in Europe.

Cheers,
José

José,

One view on this statement by the Niger embassy in Paris could be that they are competing for "business". Niger not exactly being the richest country in the world, their embassies need to make as much money themselves and therefore would have an incentive to make such statements.

Nevertheless, I would prefer not to risk it if I had the time to make arrangements prior. Which may not be the case so I may find myself in Niger's Sebha consulate in a couple of weeks' time. Also, Niger consulate in Tam is quick and easy in issuing visa.

rgds,
Camiel

Hi Camiel,

I'm also having my share of problems with the Paris embassy......

Finally got all the information and paperwork for sending the passports today .
The problem is that I should leave next 3 of September, so the time is very short..

Regards,
José
