New N-S road Algeria to Kiffa.
 

Spoke to road construction people near Atar and at Tidjitja 10 days and 2 weeks ago. There are new permenant construction camps there with fleets of new dump trucks and earth-movers.
They said that they are beginning to build the new, fully sealed road which will tun from Algeria through Zourat, Atar, Tidjitja to Kiffa. Completion date is end of 2013. Saw the survey markers between Atar and Tidjikja.

Interesting. That is a whole lot of digging - and for what one wonders, unless there are minerals to extract north of Tidjikja. What's wrong with Atar-NKT-Kiffa? You'd think there are more pressing jobs in Mori.

Even if it does go round the corner of Western Sahara, it could antagonise Mk with whom one gets the feeling relations with Alg are slowly improving, re: frontiers opening.
Is Alg paying for it or China ... looks like Saudi.

I am sure you heard it right and good luck to them, but if there is a sealed road from Tindouf to Kiffa by the end of next year I might be persuaded to eat my cheche live on the internet ;-)
