I'll just add to my own info. My 990 is being crated up and shipped next week. Based on the info an being an expat I can bring it under RS plates.

There are a couple of motorcycle dealerships on the the La Marsa road in Tunis, just past the Carrefour by Sidi Dauod. A few sportbikes, 1200GSA, Africa Twin and it looked like the ability to get tires etc.

The bigger news is I found a KTM dealership in Tunis. Extreme Motosport. It is off the main Trans-African highway that runs N-S through the city. Not far from the Tunis-Carthage Airport. They have a new old stock 640 Adv on the floor and various ktm parts. They can also order in parts as need be.

Brina, I'm bringing this back from the dead. I hope you are still around.

I am in the process of moving to Tunis for work and want my 990 to accompany me.

A couple of things:

1.) Did you have any luck bringing a large displacement bike into Tunisia? If so, can you provide some more details.

2.) Can you give the name/location of the KTM dealer you found in Tunisia? I have heard of a dealer in Tunis/La Marsa, but have not been there yet.

What I think I know on the subject is that as an ex-pat/foreigner, I can import my 990 Adventure and apply for RS plates. These plates would allow me to bring the motorcycle into the country and own it there. I would not have to pay the 104% tax on it, but I would not be able to sell the motorcycle in the country (not planning too).

I will be back in Tunis the later half of January and hope to clarify these points. If they come back positive I will be crating up my 990 in February to ship over.

Travis, Yes i am still around. And hopefully i haven't caught you too late. The KTM is in Charguia on the highway that connects Ariana to the Marsa Hiway. You can see it from the hiway but you'll have to get to it through charguia. the easiest way it to take a taxi. The guy that runs it speaks great english. ps. you can phyiscally sell your bike in Tunis, but only to someone with RS status. (designating short-term residence). I'm sure you know all this by now...but just in case. Hope it helps.
