Morocco -> Mauritania

I am planning to travel through from Morocco to Senegal this summer: was going to have 2 weeks or so in Morocco and then at the start of August travel through into Mauritania. However, I was planning on doing this with buses/ grand taxis and various hitch-hiking methods. I have been reading a lot of information on this crossing and certain websites and publications say that hitch-hiking is virtually impossible so I am getting a bit concerned. Is anyone planning on crossing the border at the beginning of August? Or has anyone done this crossing before and could offer some advise? It would be great if you could contact me via email or even phone: 07881 522865. Cheers!

I am planning to go to Morocco, Mauritania and maybe Mali in end of July and begining of August. However, as i have been a few times in morrocco, i´ll be there just the time do get the Mauri Visa in Casablanca and go south through the atlantic road.

I will just focus in Mauritania and Mali. Interested?

I will go in my old R19, diesel.

There is a campsite as you come in to Dakhla where most people stay over before going through to Mauritania. Just ask those going through if you can get a lift. You MUST offer to pay towards fuel, food and guide fees. A lot of people are taking old vehicles through to Mauratania/Senegal/Mali for resale so the vehicles are not full.
Travelling through the Sahara is one of life's great experiences.
