Moroccan visa in Nouakchott.

Hi,

Does anyone know if Moroccan visas are issued in Nouakchott?
I've got an Israeli passport, and was told by the Moroccan embassy in Niamey and Bamako that my nationality is not a problem, BUT they only give visas to RESIDENTS of the above countries.

Thanks,
Adam.

i met a ghanaian guy in nouadhibou who was refused a visa because of his nationality and his desire to go north overland. however when he bought a plane ticket to casablanca he obtained a visa, although i'm not sure a) whether this was in nouakchott or the consulate in NDB or b) whether they only issue visas to people with plane tickets. in any case he was not mauritanian so it seems that rule is not applicable here.
cheers and good luck
thomas

Hi,
I am an bulgarian citizen living in Spain. Before march 1st 2005 morocco required a visa for bulgarian citizens they asked: passport, photos, hotel reservation certificate or invitation (especially uncomfortable, if you are travelling without a fixed plan and dates and don't know anybody in Morocco- that was the reason why the first time thet I visited Morocco was this winter) and a residence permit. Lots of countries like Schengen Area, Uk, Switzerland, Syria, Ireland, Bulgaria require a residence permit in order to apply for a visa, if you are not a national of the country from which you are applying. I would think that, if they insist about the residence permit your only options would be (althoug I think all are unreliable): bribe the consul; bribe the border guard; bribe the muritanian authorities in order to give you a residence permit; apply for the mauritanian residence permit; fly; try to go throug Algeria, but I think they also ask for a residence permit.
This is done because it is much easier to check if you are a criminal if you are applying in a country in which you are a resident.
Another more reliable option is to ask the israeli consulate (if there is one) in Mauritania or neighbouring countries to speak with the moroccan consul and tell him (or her) that you are a "good person".
