More kidnappings in Mali

Yet more kidnappings in Mali - this time 7 Algerian diplomats - consular staff, including the consul, from Gao. Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa have claimed responsibility.

Kidnappings are rife serving a dual role as political tool and money spinner. It is hard to imagine how tourism will return to normal in these parts.

No tourism unless things take a turn for the better. At the moment MNLA is taking a break to reorganize, and they appear reluctant to take the islamists of Ansar Din or the jihadists of Aqim (but it is reported that there are up to seven different armed jihadist groups now).

Now the algerians may be free Mali kidnappers willing to release Algerian diplomats - MALI - ALGERIA - FRANCE 24
Iyad Ag Ghaly stole this show, too then. MNLA has a lot to learn.
