Money in Morocco...

Hi all

Hoping to head out to morocco in the next few months. Can anyone advise on what is the best
option for money. Are ATM's widely available or is it a case of queing at banks and carrying plenty of euro's (not a particularly attractive option) to change up for the duration of the trip ?.

Thanks in advance

I used euros and credit card with only 1 trip to the bank for Dirhams, they seemed to like euros!

I took some Euros so that I could change at Hotels and my flexible friend for ATM.

ATMs give you a French language option so it's fairly easy to work them out.

There was plenty of ATM in the larger towns I got stuck once and had to ride about 30km to an ATM early in the morning so we could pay the hotel bill
Some hotels even the big ones wouldn’t take payment by card so to be on the safe side carry cash and just get more out every few days
Have a good trip

Bob

ATMs are called guichet (French for counter) and are found all over.

money in maroc

I normally take a couple of hundred quid from the UK and change them into Dhirams on the border. ATMs can be found in most reasonable sized towns. Banque Populaire and Attijariwafa bank are pretty reliable.

You can use your credit card to buy fuel at a few larger fuel stations (on the autoroute for example). If you're buying carpets, etc. plastic is always welcome!
