Mauritania Border Visa...

Hi all,

Can one obtain a Mauritanian visa at the border (coming from Morocco)?? Also, going from Mauritania into Morocco, are there any border issues, do I need a permit or visa entering Morocco from Mauritania??

Thanks,

Aaron

It is possible to buy a visa for Mauretania when entering from Morocco, this has been discussed before. If you need a permit for Morocco or not clearly depends on your citizenship. As far as I know visas are issued on the spot for most EU citizens.

Hi,

Plenty of traffic around the railway, especially SNIM maintenance cars and trucks. In the right season there are also plenty of tourists.
You can rent a taxi in Nouadhibou or Atar, no problem. But try to find out first about local trucks heading for Atar or NDB.
Anyway, in case of trouble, as long as you stay close to the railway there will be people from small villages and sephards that can give you a hand. Plenty of people in the area between Ben Amera and Choum ;-)

Cheers,
José

in a hurry

But, if you don't have 24hrs, then get it at the border... - it's a little more expensive.

I just got my visa in Casa three days ago. I went the morning and I picked it up the afternoon. No problems.

Another issue to consider though, is that the visa is from date of issue. So if you're planning to be in Morocco for a while you might end up in Mauritania with very little time left on your visa.
