Mauri Visas at the boder
Does anyone know the current situation? Other than London or Casablanca, can you still get your visas at the border? In 2000 they were more expensive, but other than that it's easier...

In Lisbon you can get visas(vistos). At least for Portuguese people.

You can get visas for Mauritania at Casablanca (Moroco), they're 100DM - 10euros/£6.50.
Just find an address 4 Mauri Consulat, they get it done in a day or two in theory. It should be no hassle. otherwise, they no longer issue at Rabat and they're 4 times the price on the border.

Are you driving? Do you know anything about the 'carnet de passage' and weather its a must or not?

Hi,
I'm trying to avoid Crapablanca if at all poss - it's worth paying the price if they're available at the border, I'm just after current information as it's 3 years since I was last there.

You don't need a CDP for Mauri, but it's worth having a little "present" for the customs guys, to avoid a thorough search of your vehicle.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
