Mauri/Algeria Border
 

Hello All,

As you may have read I am thinking about doing a round trip of europe/north africa. I am aware that there is NO chance of crossing the Morocco - Algeria border but how about the Maur - Algeria border. Is it possible to cross into Algeria here? Any experiences hints etc. My time is limited so I cannot afford to go too far into Africa but definately want to cover at least a couple of countries on the northern coast.

Not possible I'm afraid without big risks and probably more dangerous than trying from Mk to Alg.
Micheal Palin did go that way with the help of Polisario insiders (Tindouf along the inside of the Berm to Zouerat) for his show and it was certainly possible before the Polisario War. As things stand now, not a chance.

Hi,
one should actually avoid northern Mali and northern Niger. Security there is really too bad. Technically Mali-Algiers is possible but much too risky for Westerners.
