Marrakech - Accommodation ?

Will be passing through Marrakech in October and would like to spend one night in the city. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay where I can park up my Land Rover safely. A modest hotel/guesthouse would be just the job.
Thanks
Ian

I have in the past stayed at the hotel CTM (underground car park) in the main square opposite the medina, but last year the square was barred to traffic - terrorism concerns ?? Instead we stayed at a 3 star hotel and left the 110 in the street outside. Allegedly, the parked cars were guarded, we paid the attendant who promptly got into a heated argument with another attendant over who should get the fee. I think that Marrakesh and indeed Morocco in general is pretty safe, more so than Europe I am sure.

Andrew.

We were there about 4 weeks ago with our landrover. We stayed at the hotel Imilchil. Its about a 10 minute walk from the main square / Medina. Parking is immediately in front of the hotel with a 24x7 attendant provided by the hotel. Hotel worked out at about £25 per night for the room for two.

Hotel CTM has often been full when Ive been through. I like the Hotel Tarfoukt in the NW of town - cheap and good rooms, amiable 'gardien' for the cars and food's ok (thin if you're a veggie but hey, there are better places to each in Marrakech than a hotel!!)

Hi Ian,

Stayed in Marrakesh in late 2003 and again in Apr 2004 on return and used Hotel Touloussain (think that is correct spelling) in Ville Nouvelle on both occassions. Good value and secure parking in off road forecourt. Bit cold in Dec though! Also used forecourt for working on the bike with no hassle.

hello out there,

it's always possible to bring the car to one of the many guarded parking lots in the center of town. then take what you need and walk to the hotel of your choice.
that's what we did, because the hotels with own parking have been
a) full

and/or

b) expensive

and/or

c) out of town.

good luck to everyone

I can recommend a cheap but clean hotel, just outside the city walls, with, most importantly, a safe and guarded place for the LandRover:
Hotel Redouane
92, Av. Allal El Fassi
Marrakech
T: 044 30.11.36

Have a nice trip!- Christian.
