Mali to Algeria thenTunisia . Is it safe?

We have dribven to The Gambia in our 4x4 Toyota camper van and are now wanting to drive from Mali through Algeria to Tunisia. We have heard the pistes are ok and that it is safe, although you need a guide. Can anyone give us updated information on this? Also the Malian Embassy has closed in Banjul, is it possible to get a visa at the Mali boarder. TRhanks

Algeria is safe - north Mali much less so.

Less stressful to go via Agadez, or get the Alg guide to meet you in Mali. Try Tanezrouft Voyages - they know the area well.
