lump north of rail line, near Choum

Hi, I've forgotten the name of the big hill (iron lump?) north of the rail line near Choum.

I was trying to remember, because I'm trying to find out if it is mine-clear?

Cheers, Sam.

Hi,

Is it Ben Amera? Roughly located at N21.229862 W13.707676 , some 65km West of Choum.

Normally south of the rail line is mine free, but I think that this place is quite popuplar for travellers of the R2 route.

BR,
Luís Cabrita

Ben Amera, yes, thanks!

I'm also thinking that because of the numbers of visitors over the years that it's clear - but would be good to have more feedback.

Thanks, Sam.

I have wandered around this lump (ben amira)! and am still here to tell the tale, but as far as I know it has not officially been cleared.

Did see several herds of goats etc wandering about there with the goatherder too

same here
Locals drive around there carefree, same goes for the shortcut from Inal towards Fderik and on to Bir Mogrein. Caution can't hurt though.

All good, nothing went bang!

Worth the detour to Ben Amera, and then a further monolith 5kms west, where there is some modern rock art on the eastern side.

Safe travels, Sam.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
